# 83 Prodigal Daughter

"Jesus' whole life is a life that moves from action - from being in control, preaching, teaching, performing miracles - to passion, in which everything is done to him. He is arrested, whipped, crowned with thorns and nailed to the cross. All this is done to him. The fulfillment of Jesus' life on earth is not what he did but rather in what was done to him. Passion."

Henri Nouwen is one of my very favorite spiritual teachers. His words both in his books and in this Lenten reflection are drawn from recorded conferences Henri Nouwen gave on the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
These excerpts are from the Henri Nouwen Society daily emails.  "They are ideally suited to Lenten prayer and meditation, for Nouwen powerfully presents the core message of the parable: we are children of God, given our freedom by the Father who freely loves us whether we stay or go, whether we have been unfaithful or resentful or presumptuous," or arrogant or jealous or dishonest or or or ...the list goes on.
One has to love and respect such a Parent/Creator/Pal...who always gives us a hand to hold and will never ever leave us...to face our perils alone.
How blest I am to have such a loving friend...maybe you too?
